HUD

HUD housing includes a number of program types that serve specific populations. To qualify for HUD housing, households must meet certain criteria based on the specific property’s requirements. The annual household income must be below 50% of the median income for that area. Under most HUD programs, households pay approximately 30% of their annual adjusted income for rent. Federal subsidies pay the remaining rent. HUD programs provide subsidized housing for seniors, people with disabilities, and families with children, depending on the program type.
